Polling in 93 LS seats; PM Modi, Shah to cast vote in Ahmedabad

Prime Minister Narendra Modi cast his vote at a school in Ahmedabad during the third phase of voting for the Lok Sabha polls. Voting across 25 Lok Sabha constituencies in Gujarat began on Tuesday morning.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah cast his vote in Ahmedabad, Gujarat for the third phase of the Lok Sabha elections.

A huge crowd that had gathered to catch a glimpse of PM Modi cheered from the roadside and raised slogans for him. PM Modi was accompanied by Union Minister Amit Shah and the two leaders walked to the booth.

As the Prime Minister arrived at the polling booth, the air resonated with chants of ‘Jai Shri Ram.’ Local residents also displayed enthusiasm, welcoming Prime Minister Modi with traditional dhol-nagara beats.

Amit Shah was accompanied by his wife, son Jay Shah, at the polling booth at the Sub-Zonal office near Kameshwar Mahadev Temple, Naranpura area. He, along with his family members, stand in a queue as they await their turn to cast their votes.

PM Modi congratulated the Election Commission for conducting the first two phases of Lok Sabha polls with hardly any violence and asked the people to come out in large numbers to vote.

PM Modi also said the way the Indian elections are being conducted could be a learning process for other democracies, and it has been the subject of case studies for many universities.

Appealing people to vote he said, “Matdaan is Mahadaan (voting is a great gift). I appeal to the people to vote in large numbers,” PM Modi told reporters after casting his vote.

In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, BJP secured victories in all 26 seats in Gujarat in both the 2014 and 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
