Police probe suspected overdose after influencer Anunay Sood’s death

A suspected drug overdose is believed to have caused the death of travel influencer Anunay Sood, who was found unresponsive in his room at the Wynn Las Vegas on November 4, according to a report by LA-based outlet 8NewsNow. Police documents reviewed by the portal stated that officers discovered Sood unresponsive with “narcotics” found near his body.

Sood, who had over 1.5 million Instagram followers, was in Las Vegas to attend the Las Vegas Concours 2025 car show, as reflected in his recent posts. According to the report, a woman staying with him told investigators that the group had purchased what they thought was cocaine from a man on the casino floor around 4 am. She said she, Sood, and another woman consumed the substance before falling asleep, and later woke to find Sood unresponsive.

Police said they recovered a small bag containing an unidentified white powder and other evidence indicating the group had snorted the substance.

Sood’s family and friends confirmed his death on Instagram last week, requesting privacy and urging followers not to gather near the family home. His final posts placed him in Las Vegas at the time of his death.

Los Angeles police said the November 4 incident resulted in a non-criminal, medical report. The Clark County coroner’s office has listed Sood’s cause and manner of death as pending, noting that toxicology results — needed to determine whether substances were involved — may take several months. Authorities said no arrests have been made in the case as of Monday.

Anunay Sood was a well-known travel influencer, photographer, and entrepreneur with 1.4 million Instagram followers and 3.8 lakh YouTube subscribers. Featured in Forbes India’s Top 100 Digital Stars from 2022 to 2024, he began by documenting his travels online before launching a Dubai-based digital marketing agency. Sood visited 46 countries and often spoke of his dream to explore all 195 nations.
