Police claim recovered mobile data shows Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary allegedly used coded communication
The investigation into the murder of Pune realtor Ketan Agarwal has taken a fresh turn after investigators recovered deleted mobile data and an alleged Snapchat conversation that could shed more light on the conspiracy.
According to police, forensic analysis of mobile phones used by prime accused Siya Goyal and co-accused Chetan Chaudhary revealed that the duo allegedly communicated using coded language, hand signs and nicknames to avoid detection after Ketan’s death.
Both accused have now been sent to 14 days of judicial custody after a local court rejected the police’s request for an extension of custodial interrogation.
Investigators told the court that further custody was required to decode the conversations between the accused, establish their motive and uncover the planning behind the murder. Police also conducted a panchnama at a location where Siya Goyal is suspected of tearing Ketan’s passport and seized clothes believed to be linked to the investigation.
Alleged Snapchat message under scanner
Investigators are also examining an Snapchat conversation between Siya Goyal and one of her friends.
According to sources, Goyal allegedly asked her friend to send an Aadhaar card copy to book flight tickets, adding that the booking was for a “wedding that is never going to happen.”
Police are probing whether the alleged message was part of an attempt to create the impression that wedding preparations were continuing, thereby diverting suspicion from the murder plot.
Officials stressed that the authenticity of the purported Snapchat chat is still being verified and its evidentiary value will depend on the ongoing forensic investigation.
Narco test denied
During the court proceedings, the issue of conducting narco analysis tests on the accused also came up. The court observed that such tests require the voluntary consent of the accused. Since neither Siya Goyal nor Chetan Chaudhary agreed to undergo the procedure, permission was denied.
