The surge in attacks brings fear to Kashmir Valley
A day after Kashmir Valley peacefully celebrated the festival of lights, a joint team of security forces Saturday eliminated two more foreign terrorists in the Halkan Gali area of Anantnag while an encounter was going on in the Khanyar area of Srinagar.
Srinagar is witnessing a broad daylight gunfight after a gap of almost two years. Traffic on the busy roads leading to the encounter site has been diverted while a high alert is sounded in the neighboring areas to prevent any collateral damage.
Two migrant workers from Uttar Pradesh were also shot in the central Kashmir district of Budgam late Thursday evening by unidentified terrorists. These workers were working on the Jal Jeewan Project site.
Meanwhile, a separate search operation was also going on in the Panar area of Bandipora after security forces spotted suspicious movement late Thursday night.
According to a spokesman of the Srinagar-based Chinar Corps a joint operation was launched by the Indian army along with CRPF and the special operations group of the Jammu and Kashmir police in the general area of Halkan Gali, Anantnag. During the operation when troops challenged a group of terrorists they opened indiscriminate fire. Strong retaliation by the forces resulted in the elimination of two terrorists. Who is destabilizing Omar Abdullah government?: Dr. Abdullah raises question marks on rising incidents of terrorist violence
Raising question marks over the rising incidents of terrorist violence in Kashmir valley after the formation of the Omar Abdullah-led government Dr Farooq Abdullah Saturday claimed “It should be investigated. How is it that the government has come and this is happening? I have a doubt that is it done by the people who were trying to destabilize the government…If they (terrorists) are caught then we will get to know who is doing this. They should not be killed, they should be caught and asked who is behind them…We should check if there is an agency who is trying to destabilize Omar Abdullah…”
National Conference MP Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi also expressed similar concerns. In a post on X JKNC MP said, “Saddened by the news of the terrorist attack on the civilians in Mazhama Budgam. My sympathies and prayers are with the victims and their families.
The BJP regime which is directly in control of the security in J&K should be held accountable for these repeated failures. Also want to ask why there is a sudden rise in these attacks immediately after the recent elections.
