Rajasthan CM’s Advisor & MLA Sanyam Lodha stirs row over his remarks
In the Congress-led Rajasthan, during a debate on the Haridev Joshi University of Journalism and Mass Communication (Amendment) Bill, 2022, MLA Sanyam Lodha got up during the middle of the discussions on Tuesday and said, “Yes, we are slaves. We will do slavery to the Gandhi-Nehru family till our last breath because this country has been built by the Gandhi-Nehru family.”
Sanyam Lodha has been recently appointed as an advisor to Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot & is a Congress supporting independent MLA from Sirohi. Lodha had contested as an independent candidate in the 2018 Assembly elections and later supported Congress.
The exchange of jibes between treasury & opposition benches led to chaos in the Assembly. As both sides raised hue & cry over ‘trading of barbs’, the Speaker tried to intervene and settle the matter peacefully.
As soon as Lodha termed the Congressmen as slaves, Deputy Leader of Opposition, Rajendra Rathod, said, “Oh, slaves! This comes as a new culture. Congratulations to you for slavery.”
Rathod also took another dig at Lodha by saying that ‘ghulams’ (slaves) cannot speak their minds.
Taking a jibe at Lodha’s remarks BJP MLA Kalicharan Saraf said, “Even after so much slavery, the Congress did not give you a ticket.”
