Adulterated diesel causes major disruption ahead of CM’s scheduled event

In a surprising mishap, 19 vehicles from Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav’s convoy had to be towed on Thursday, June 26, after refueling with water-contaminated diesel in Ratlam district. The convoy was en route from Indore to Ratlam, where the Chief Minister was scheduled to attend an event on Friday, June 27, according to a report.

Convoy brought to halt after fueling at local petrol pump

The breakdown occurred shortly after the vehicles were refueled at a petrol pump in Ratlam. Several SUVs began to jerk and stall within a kilometer of leaving the pump. In videos that surfaced online, drivers and petrol pump staff can be seen pushing the stalled vehicles off the road.

One of the drivers said, “We filled diesel at the pump. Some cars broke down within a kilometer, others couldn’t even leave the station.”

Petrol pump sealed after adulteration confirmed

Initial suspicions were raised when a local resident presented a sample of diesel taken from the same pump, showing visible separation between diesel and water. Over 250 liters of the tainted fuel were reportedly dispensed.

Officials from the Food and Civil Supplies Department quickly collected samples for testing. The presence of water in the diesel was confirmed, prompting authorities to seal the petrol pump.

Investigation underway to determine source and extent of contamination

Senior department official Anand Gole stated, “The issue is under investigation. While the exact quantity of water can’t be determined yet, the pump’s inventory is being verified. Findings will be included in a report to the Ratlam district collector.”

The incident has sparked concerns over fuel quality control and supply chain oversight, especially in critical motorcades like those of state leadership.

  1. Excellent thing to happen. These petrol pumps & its owners have been cheating consumers for decades, with total inaction by agencies. Expect some action at least now….
