Congress is on a self-destruct mission
A sovereign nation like Bharat deserves to have the government of the people, by the people, for the people. Then why does Uncle Sam P (Sam Pitroda) impose his will, thoughts, and/ or the U.S. practices on Bharat? Worse yet is that the Shahzada of Congress, RaGa (Rahul Gandhi), takes cues from his uncle/ mentor Sam P. Together, the duo of Chacha-Bhatija (Uncle-nephew) is making Bhartiya Janata Party dream of ‘Congress Mukt Bharat’ come true as early as June 4 when the result of the elections are announced.
Inheritance Tax: First, Sam P suggested an interesting idea of imposing an inheritance tax in Bharat which was abolished in 1985 during the Congress Raj. Uncle Sam P said,” In America, there is an inheritance tax.” He explains that if someone has $100 million in wealth and passes away, about one-half of it transfers to the children and the other half goes as inheritance tax for public good. According to him, it is an “interesting law” and “seems fair.”
Living in the United States myself, the inheritance tax is neither interesting nor fair. It is a tax burden for people who have worked hard and accumulated some wealth for their retirement and/ or heirs. Most people in America, like other countries, despise paying taxes. The inheritance tax is certainly the least liked although it has merits for the greater public good.
What Uncle Sam P is not telling is that American people with wealth (and wisdom) manage it through estate tax planning. Colloquially, “Uncle Sam” in America is a nickname for its tax collection agency, Internal Revenue Service. If Sam P is thinking of people like Adani and Ambani, the favorites of Shahzada RaGa, they would have an army of accountants and tax attorneys to minimize inheritance tax.
In Bharat’s context, Uncle Sam’s interesting and fair idea stirred a political storm and he made a fool of himself. The Congress party was left to defend, disown, and do damage control after the cat was out of the bag. Modi, as a shrewd and clever politician as he is, turned Sam’s idea into an “interesting” campaign narrative. Bharat may consider inheritance tax in the future but neither Uncle Sam P nor RaGa are the futurists who have no clue about the present let alone its future.
Dividing Bharat: While the writing about inheritance tax had not dried up, Uncle Sam P suggested another novel but highly controversial idea. He classified the people of Bharat based on their geography and skin color. He stated, “We could hold together a country as diverse as India — where people on the East look like Chinese, people on the West look like Arab, people on North look like maybe White, and people in the South look like Africans.” Think what you may but it is the most ridiculous classification which divides the people of Bharat. It is worse than the Britishers dividing us based on “caste” by misinterpreting Bharat’s Varna system.
It is a grave insult to call any Bhartiya a Chinese, Arab, White, and/ or African based on where they were born. I was born in Uttar Pradesh but by no means do I even look like a White, according to Uncle Sam’s classification. Born in Odisha, educated in Gujarat, and living in India and the United States, does Sam P know what category he belongs to?
With this extreme controversy, Uncle Sam P was let go of his title as Chairman of the Indian Overseas Congress to distance him from his dear nephew RaGa. However, his remarks riddled with race and prejudice, have the potential to add fuel to the fire of an ongoing crusade about caste/ color of skin by anti-Hindu groups and organizations in America’s corporate and academia.
It is worth mentioning that the Congress party has a history of having Bharat divided; first into two countries based on religion. As a consequence, the land of Hindus is under constant threat from all types of Jihads from within with Congress standing by them for the vote bank.
Later Prime Minister Nehru created a mini nation (special status for J&K) within a nation (Bharat) by carving Article 370. Sheikh Abdullah was J&K’s first Prime Minister, a title similar to Nehru. Article 370 was undone in 2019, one of the most significant political decisions by Modi in the interest of national security, unity, and integrity.
Recently, Congress’s Shahzada walked on foot in a so-called Bharat Jodo (Unite India) Yatra. I am afraid, however, that Uncle Sam’s statement is akin to Todo Bharat (Break India).
In conclusion, Shahzada RaGa and his mentor Uncle Sam P are helping the BJP succeed more than their own Congress win. It is premature to suggest if the BJP-led NDA will cross four hundred seats but Modi is unstoppable in 2024 at the peril of Congress-led I.N.D.I. Alliance.
Undoubtedly, the democracy in today’s new Bharat will be more robust with a strong opposition to the checks and balances but not the Congress under its current leadership. The time is now for Congress Mukt Bharat not only because Modi and his team want it to be. The fact is that both Uncle Sam P and Shahzada RaGa, are helping accelerate BJP’s vision and dream with their deeds and statements. May Bharat be Congress Mukt or at least its presence diminished to a miniscule from June 2024 onwards.
