Controversial video sparks online debate over Sisodia being Hindu

The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) has launched a scathing attack on former Delhi deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia following the emergence of a viral video showing him wiping off a ‘Tilak‘ from his forehead. In the clip, which has circulated widely on social media, Sisodia is seen at a public event where attendees applied the ceremonial ‘Tilak’ as a welcoming gesture. However, shortly thereafter, he appears to remove it, prompting outrage.

VHP national spokesperson Vinod Bansal took to X (formerly Twitter) to express his disapproval, stating, “So much hatred for Tilak? This is probably Aam Aadmi Party leader Manish Sisodia, welcomed with a Tilak and a shawl, who then wiped it off immediately after a photo op!”

Bansal demanded clarification from Sisodia and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) regarding the video’s authenticity, questioning whether it was a genuine act or a manipulated deepfake. He challenged Sisodia directly, asking, “Did you become a Hindu just for a photo? Or is this video some AI miracle? Please clarify!”

In further remarks to news agency IANS, Bansal criticized Sisodia’s apparent disdain for Hindu customs, asking, “If this video is real, why such contempt for ‘Tilak’ and Hindu beliefs? Do AAP leaders visit temples solely for photo opportunities and electoral gains?”
