Union Minister reacts to Telangana CM’s claim that Rahul Gandhi would have taken back PoK

Union Minister Jitendra Singh on Friday dismissed as “hilarious” a remark made by Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, who claimed that if Congress leader Rahul Gandhi were the Prime Minister of India, Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) would have been reclaimed by now.

Singh strongly criticized Reddy’s statement, asserting that the PoK situation exists today because of decisions taken by India’s first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru. He also held Nehru responsible for the partition of India and the division of Jammu and Kashmir.

It is hilarious if any Congress leader says that if Rahul Gandhi were the PM, PoK would be a part of India. The fact is that if his great maternal grandfather, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, had not been Prime Minister, PoJK would not exist today,” Singh said in a statement.

Historical blame on Nehru for the ceasefire decision

Singh referred to the India-Pakistan war during Nehru’s tenure, alleging that Indian forces were in a position to reclaim PoK when Nehru unilaterally declared a ceasefire on national radio without consulting other political leaders.

Let us not forget that during the India-Pakistan war, when Indian forces were close to reclaiming PoK, it was Nehru who unilaterally announced a ceasefire on Akashvani,” he added.

Reddy defends Gandhi, criticizes Modi’s leadership

Revanth Reddy, speaking at a Congress rally—’Jai Hind Yatra‘ in Nizampet, Hyderabad—had questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s decision to declare a ceasefire during recent military operations against Pakistan without consulting opposition parties.

Why was no all-party meeting called before declaring a ceasefire, even though one was held before military strikes began?” Reddy asked.

In a fiery speech, Reddy labeled Modi an “expired rupee” and drew comparisons between Rahul Gandhi and former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. He claimed that Rahul, as Prime Minister, would have drawn inspiration from Indira Gandhi’s decisive leadership during the 1971 war, which led to the creation of Bangladesh.

Modi is like a 1000-rupee invalid note. This country needs Rahul Gandhi’s leadership. He would have followed Indira Gandhi’s example and split Pakistan again to take back PoK,” Reddy said.

Political war of words intensifies ahead of elections

The exchange underscores ongoing political tensions between the ruling BJP and the Congress party over national security, foreign policy, and historical legacies. The issue of PoK continues to be a flashpoint in India’s domestic political discourse, often invoked during election campaigns.

  1. In his claim that RaGa would have taken POK is an admission that it is the political leadership that wins or loses the war. In a democracy it is the elected government that takes the call. The Army can only be as brave and effective as the government that grants it the freedom to act while being accountable for the outcome of the decisions. The jokers’ separating the Army from the government can only be the ones who are convinced that they are not likely to come to power in the near future.

  2. Revanth Reddy is a worst than a joker & stooped so low that all Telugus are offended & find him to be disgrace
