US earning ‘trillions’ from tariffs, Trump says
US President Donald Trump on Saturday claimed that he used the threat of tariffs to stop global conflicts, asserting that five out of eight wars were halted because of his tariff strategy. He also reiterated that the United States is earning “trillions of dollars” from tariffs imposed on multiple countries, which he suggested have strengthened the US economy.
In a strongly worded post on Truth Social, Trump wrote, “We are taking in TRILLIONS of Dollars in Tariffs and Investment Dollars from foreign lands because of Tariffs. I have stopped 5 of the eight WARS directly because of the threat of Tariffs…”
Trump’s remarks follow his earlier claim that tariff pressure helped avert a military confrontation between India and Pakistan in May, though India has never confirmed any such role for him in the ceasefire efforts.
Taking aim at former US President Joe Biden, Trump alleged that inflation is now “almost non-existent” and claimed that under Biden it was the “worst in USA history.” He further boasted that the US stock market had hit an all-time high for the 48th time in nine months.
Trump also targeted conservative financier Leonard Leo, the Koch network and other foreign entities, accusing them of exploiting the US through their own tariff structures. He asserted that the US judiciary would no longer allow such groups to “destroy the country.”
Declaring the US today as the “richest, strongest, and most respected” it has ever been, Trump attributed this to two factors: his tariff policies and the upcoming November 5th, 2024 US Presidential election, which he suggested is influencing global behaviour toward the United States.
