Tehran rejects ultimatum, signals strong retaliation as tensions with US and Israel escalate
Iran has sharply rejected a 48-hour ultimatum issued by Donald Trump, calling it “a helpless, nervous, unbalanced and stupid action” and warning of severe consequences if Washington escalates further.
In a strongly worded statement, General Ali Abdollahi Aliabadi of the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters said Trump’s threat to target Iran’s key infrastructure would not go unanswered.
Echoing Trump’s own rhetoric, he issued a chilling warning: “the simple meaning of this message is that the gates of hell will open for you.”
Trump repeats ultimatum over Iran deal
The sharp response comes after Trump renewed his warning, saying Iran has just 48 hours to strike a deal or reopen the strategically crucial Strait of Hormuz.
“Time is running out — 48 hours before all Hell will rain down on them,” Trump said in a post, escalating pressure on Tehran.
The United States has repeatedly threatened to intensify attacks if its demands are not met.
Israel signals readiness for strikes
Israel has also indicated it is preparing for potential military action. Reports suggest Israeli officials are considering strikes on Iranian energy infrastructure and are awaiting approval from Washington.
Any such move, analysts warn, could significantly widen the conflict in the region.
Strait of Hormuz at centre of standoff
The Strait of Hormuz has emerged as a critical flashpoint. Nearly 20% of the world’s oil supply passes through the narrow channel, making it vital for global energy security.
While Iran has allowed limited humanitarian passage, broader access remains uncertain, adding to global concerns.
Threat of wider conflict grows
Iran has warned that any attack by the US or Israel would trigger “devastating and continuous” retaliation targeting American military assets across the Middle East as well as Israeli infrastructure.
The ongoing conflict, now in its sixth week, has already led to heavy casualties across multiple regions, raising fears of a wider war.
