Police have detained two security guards associated with Khan Global Studies after a purported video showed alleged firing

The controversy surrounding Khan Global Studies (KGS) in Patna intensified on Thursday after Bihar Police detained two security guards linked to the coaching institute over alleged firing during a recent vandalism incident.

The action came a day after unidentified individuals allegedly vandalised the institute and pelted stones at its premises. Authorities said a purported video circulating on social media appeared to show two guards firing shots into the air. However, the authenticity of the video has not been independently verified.

According to a statement issued by the City SP (Central) office, police reviewed the footage during the investigation and subsequently detained the two guards for questioning.

“During investigations, police obtained a purported video showing two individuals carrying out aerial firing. Following verification of the video, two guards linked to KGS have been taken into custody for questioning,” the statement said.

Police also confirmed that the weapons allegedly used in the firing had been seized and sent for forensic examination.

The incident stems from an attack on the coaching institute on Tuesday night, when a group of around 15 to 20 people allegedly vandalised the premises and hurled stones. A case has been registered at Kadamkuan Police Station, and investigations are ongoing.

Khan Global Studies is run by educator Faisal Khan, widely known as Khan Sir. Following the incident, Khan Sir had alleged that individuals associated with a rival coaching institute were behind the attack. However, he later stated that only a police investigation could determine whether firing had actually taken place.

Police have already arrested three individuals in connection with the vandalism case, including the director of a rival coaching centre.

Meanwhile, representatives of a competing coaching institute held a press conference on Thursday, alleging that the incident had been orchestrated by Khan Sir himself.

Displaying the purported video during the briefing, a representative identified as Adarsh questioned Khan Sir’s earlier claims regarding the firing.

“Police investigation found no evidence of firing while he had claimed that seven to eight rounds were fired in front of him. Now a video has surfaced showing his own guards firing shots,” Adarsh alleged.

He further accused Khan Sir of creating the controversy to generate publicity, though no evidence was presented to support the claim.

Police have not commented on these allegations and said the investigation remains underway.
