The Trust has accepted the resignations of General Secretary Champat Rai and trustee Anil Mishra amid an ongoing probe into alleged donation irregularities

The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust has accepted the resignations of its General Secretary, Champat Rai, and trustee Anil Mishra during a key meeting held in Ayodhya amid the ongoing controversy over alleged irregularities in temple donations, according to sources.

The meeting was convened to deliberate on the resignations submitted by the two senior functionaries after allegations of financial irregularities in donations collected for the Ram Temple project triggered public and political scrutiny.

Champat Rai and Anil Mishra had tendered their resignations in June, with reports suggesting they stepped down on moral grounds while investigations into the alleged donation irregularities continued. The trust had earlier deferred a decision on their resignations before taking up the matter at Sunday’s meeting.

The alleged donation irregularities are being investigated by a Special Investigation Team (SIT), which is examining claims related to the handling of funds collected for the construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. The controversy has intensified in recent weeks following multiple arrests in connection with the alleged theft of donations.

The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, constituted in 2020, oversees the construction and administration of the Ram Temple. Sunday’s meeting also reviewed developments related to the ongoing probe and discussed the trust’s future functioning, sources said.

The acceptance of the resignations marks a significant development in the high-profile case, even as investigations into the alleged financial irregularities continue. Authorities are yet to announce any further changes to the trust’s leadership.
