Trump has reignited his public feud with Italian PM Meloni by sharing a social media post mocking her following their recent G7 Summit photo controversy
US President Donald Trump has reignited his public feud with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni by sharing a social media post captioned “Restraining order needed“, days after the two leaders clashed over claims surrounding a photograph taken during the recent G7 Summit.
Trump posted the image on his Truth Social platform, showing himself with Meloni at the G7 Summit in France. The accompanying caption appeared to mock the Italian leader and marked the latest escalation in an increasingly public war of words between the two.
The latest post follows a dispute that began after Trump claimed Meloni had “begged” for a photograph with him at the G7 Summit to boost her political standing. Meloni strongly rejected the allegation, calling it “completely made up” and insisting that neither she nor Italy “begs” for political favour.
The renewed exchange comes just ahead of the NATO Summit, where both leaders are expected to attend, raising the possibility of an awkward face-to-face meeting after weeks of increasingly sharp public remarks.
Relations between Trump and Meloni, once seen as politically aligned on several conservative issues, have become strained in recent months over differences on foreign policy and public statements. Despite their previous cordial ties, the latest social media exchange underscores growing tensions between the two leaders.
