Case transferred to NIA

The Udaipur District and Sessions Court transferred the Udaipur beheading case to National Investigative Agency (NIA) on Friday after an application was moved by NIA to the court regarding this case. NIA team reached Kanpur on Thursday night to investigate the murder and raided many places.

Following the transfer, the NIA will get custody of the killers, Ghaus Mohammad and Riyaz Jabbar, and then start their interrogation.

Meanwhile, the accused have been shifted from Udaipur to Ajmer’s High-Security Jail. This action was taken to investigate the Kanpur connection which was revealed in the documents recovered from the killers.

While two accused were arrested on the day of the murder itself, two others were nabbed on Thursday night, two more accused were arrested on Friday night for their involvement in the gruesome murder of Kanhaiya Lal.

IG (Udaipur) Prafulla Kumar said that the two accused- Mohsin Khan and Asif, were “co-conspirators,” in the murder. “The two accused were involved in both the planning and execution stages of the entire conspiracy,” he said, adding both accused are residents of Udaipur.

The police have included additional IPC sections in the FIR that were registered at the Dhanmandi police station on Wednesday. Khandelwal said that Section 307 (attempt to murder), 120B (criminal conspiracy) of the IPC, and relevant sections of the arms act.
Khandelwal said that Lal’s assistant, Ishwar Gaur was injured in the attack that led to supplementary sections added to the FIR.

Internet remained suspended in many districts of Rajasthan for the fifth day on Saturday, while Section 144 has also been imposed for a month to prevent violence.
