Days after absconding politician Shrikant Tyagi’s video went viral, he has now been arrested by Noida Police from Meerut city on Tuesday. Tyagi was on a run after he assaulted and abused a woman inside a housing society.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath-led Uttar Pradesh government has called for a detailed investigation and vowed to take stern action against politician Shrikant Tyagi. Yogi Adityanath himself has sought a report from the Home Department in connection to the case.

An intense operation to nab the absconding accused is currently underway and multiple teams of the Noida police are currently working in coordination to zero in on his location.

Tyagi’s wife was detained by the Special Task Force (STF) formed to investigate the assault case and now she will be questioned in connection with her husband’s involvement.

While the reason behind detaining Tyagi’s wife is yet to be known, it can be ascertained that she will be questioned regarding the illegal encroachments owned by the politician and also about legal activities carried out by him.

The Yogi-led government has put the STF into force and has directed the police to investigate the incident. Tyagi has been absconding and his last location was traced in Uttarakhand between Haridwar and Rishikesh, multiple police teams went there but still, he was not found.

Tyagi had encroached on the common area of the society and constructed a wooden shed that had multiple pillars below it. Tyagi was booked by the police for assaulting and abusing a woman co-resident of Grand Omaxe society who had objected to him planting trees in the common area of the society. Tyagi had claimed that he was well within his rights to do so. Police personnel in large numbers were deployed at the society since last evening, even as senior officers interacted with Grand Omaxe residents.

Uttar Pradesh government officials on Monday morning used a bulldozer to remove encroachment done by absconding politician Shrikant Tyagi outside his Noida residence. The action was carried out around 9 am by the Noida Authority to remove the illegal structures outside Tyagi’s ground-floor apartment in Grand Omaxe society in the city’s Sector 93B, an official said.
