₹87,500-crore ai data centre plan advances with land allotment to Adani Infra
The Andhra Pradesh government approves the transfer of 480 acres of land in Visakhapatnam and Anakapalli districts to Adani Infra (India) Pvt Ltd for setting up 1 GW AI-powered data centres with 1 GW capacity. The land allotment follows a request from Raiden Infotech India, a notified technology partner of Google, with the state cabinet granting approval on November 28, 2025.
The allotment, facilitated through Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC), comes after Raiden Infotech India, Adani Infra (India) Pvt Ltd, AdaniConneX India Pvt Ltd, Adani Power India Pvt Ltd, Bharti Airtel Ltd, Nxtra Data Ltd, and Nxtra Vizag Limited were named as “notified partners” for the project in prior communication to the state government.
Raiden Infotech India, which is developing data centre capacity in phases, requests that all three identified land parcels be transferred to Adani Infra (India) Pvt Ltd as the primary partner, pending satellite survey, land survey, and formal handover of possession. The state order, issued December 2, 2025, formally grants permission for the land transfer, citing ministerial approval.
The project carries a planned cumulative investment exceeding ₹87,500 crore. Separately, the state has outlined incentives expected to refund approximately ₹22,000 crore to the company in the form of benefits and support over a phased timeline. Raiden Infotech India also seeks authorisation for itself and its notified partners to claim all incentives previously assured by the Chandrababu Naidu-led administration for the data centre initiative.
According to the government order, the facilities will be constructed to the same infrastructure standards that power Google services such as Google Search, YouTube, and Google Workspace.
Data centre scale is commonly benchmarked by energy consumption. At full load, the upcoming 1 GW (1,000 MW) facility is expected to draw electricity equivalent to nearly 50% of Mumbai’s annual power consumption. Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu earlier notes that Google’s investment pledge, initially announced at USD 10 billion, stands revised to USD 15 billion, reflecting a sharp upward scale in project ambition.
