Ex-WWE champion ‘The Great Khali’ joins BJP
Ahead of the Punjab Legislative Assembly election the famous ex-WWE star and inspiration for youngsters, Dalip Singh Rana, also known as ‘The Great Khali’ has joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Earlier, Khali had lent his support to the farmers’ agitation against the three farm reform laws that were introduced by the BJP-led Central government, that he is now part of.
Speaking on the occasion Khali said, “I have joined BJP today, I am so happy. I am not here for name or fame. I have got fame in wrestling. I was staying in the USA, but I came here in India after taking inspiration from our Prime Minister Narendra Modi. I am inspired by his ideology and policies. BJP is a nationalist party; they work to take India forward. I am inspired by all of this and hence, came back to my country.”
The Union Minister and senior BJP leader Jitendra Singh welcomed Khali in a formal ceremony. Singh said, “With The Great Khali joining us, it will be a source of inspiration to youth as well as other people of the country.”
Khali is a native of Dhiraina in the Sirmaur district of Himachal Pradesh. After his retirement from the WWE, he opened Continental Wrestling Entertainment, an Indian professional wrestling promotion, and training academy.
Khali has already served as an Assistant Sub-Inspector of Punjab Police. He has also featured in four Hollywood films, two Bollywood films, and several television shows.
