Indian troops battle terrorists in J&K’s Doda
At least four security personnel, including an Army officer, were critically injured in a fierce exchange of fire between the group of hiding terrorists and the security forces in the Dessa forest area of Doda district late Monday evening.
The injured were evacuated to the hospital and their condition was stated to be “critical”.
According to agency reports, one Army officer along with three other soldiers have succumbed to their fatal injuries.
The Indian Army had rushed additional troops to the encounter site to plug the possible routes of escape to flush out the group of terrorists.
Till the time of filing the report, the Indian Army had not confirmed the exact number of fatal injuries suffered by the soldiers.
In a post on X (earlier Twitter) Nagrota-based White Knight Corps (16 Core headquarters) said, “Based on specific intelligence inputs, a joint operation by the Indian Army and JKP was in progress in the general area North of Doda. Contact with terrorists was established at about 2100 hours on Monday and a heavy firefight ensued. Initial reports suggest injuries to our bravehearts”
“Additional troops have been moved into the area. Operations are continuing,” the post said.
Doda has witnessed at least four encounters in the last month in which three terrorists were neutralized while over half a dozen soldiers received injuries.

A police spokesperson in Jammu also confirmed the exchange of fire between the security forces and terrorists in the Dessa forest area but said that “further details are awaited.”
Three terrorists were earlier gunned down by the joint team of security forces on June 26 in the Doda district.
So far over 40 security personnel have sacrificed their lives in similar incidents of targeted strikes by the suspected foreign terrorists across the Jammu region since October 2021 in the areas south of Pir Panjal.
