
Congress leader not in city; police seek to question him over allegations
A team of Assam Police on Tuesday visited the Delhi residence of Pawan Khera, a day after an FIR was filed against him over remarks he made about Riniki Bhuyan Sarma, wife of Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
Officials said the team was assisted by Delhi Police in the Nizamuddin area during the visit.
Khera not in Delhi, police tracking his location
Sources indicated that Khera was not present at his residence and is likely in Telangana. Assam Police is looking to question him in connection with his recent statements.
Row over allegations on passports, assets
The controversy began after Khera held a press conference raising questions about alleged passports and foreign-linked assets connected to Riniki Bhuyan Sarma.
Following the remarks, a complaint was filed, leading to the FIR and subsequent police action.
CM calls allegations ‘false’, hints at foreign link
Responding to the controversy, Himanta Biswa Sarma said the claims were “false” and expressed confidence that legal action would follow.
He also alleged that the material used by Congress leaders may have originated from Pakistani social media sources and could be part of an attempt to influence the election narrative.
