[dropcap color=”#008040″ boxed=”yes” boxed_radius=”8px” class=”” id=””]N[/dropcap]aela Quadri Baloch(50), refuted Pakistan’s new claims that it’d detained Kulbushan Jadhav, an alleged Indian spy. “Had India helped us, we would have obtained our independence and would be an independent country now,” she said. Jadhav, a former Indian navy officer, was detained last month.
Quadri denied that India had anything to do in Balochistan. She said Balochis, actually, need India to get involved and support their fight from the “savage and barbaric” Pakistani rule in Balochistan.
Balochistan is a huge land, the size of France, rich in copper, gold and gas reserves. Additionally it is home to huge untapped resources of uranium and oil. Upset over the exploitation of the resources and alleged repressive rule in Pakistan, Balochis have up to now found five armed insurgencies because the land was annexed by Islamabad in 1948.
There are about seven armed groups now fighting the Pakistan Army in the area that gets little attention in the mainstream media.
[dropcap color=”#008040″ boxed=”yes” boxed_radius=”8px” class=”” id=””]Q[/dropcap]uadri said Pakistan was just thinking about the resources in Balochistan, and added that Islamabad has involved China and gifted it a share of the resources and to check India.
She said the development of the Gwadar port in China should be a cause of worry for India. China has also signed an agreement with Pakistan that allows rights to more than 2,000 acres of property in Balochistan for a Chinese firm.
“China needs to control the Indian Ocean. Tell me how does one believe India is going to be secure, and trade calmly in the surface of Chinese naval presence on the ocean path,” Quadri said, adding, “Is Not this enough for India to help us pull the military out of Balochistan?”
Inquired what exactly she needed from India, the activist said she was searching for “every potential support”.
“Be it diplomatic, fiscal or armed. We want it. Every sort of support,” said the Harvard grad, who had been once supposedly injured on the head in a clash together with the military. The harm maintained the eyesight of her right eye.
She said if India could get it done in Bangladesh “why not Balochistan”.
[dropcap color=”#008040″ boxed=”yes” boxed_radius=”8px” class=”” id=””]”I[/dropcap]ndia isn’t what it had been in 1971 (when Bangladesh was liberated). You’d a powerful courageous and headed leader in Indira Gandhi. She had a tough foreign policy to cope with Pakistan and was discovered. Sadly, the case differs now.”
She expected that Prime Minister Narendra Modi would come off “as powerful as Gandhi” to help Balochistan acquire its “independence”.
She accused Pakistan of genocide – an area crisscrossed by the boundaries of Pakistan, Afghanistan and Iran.
“They’re using every one of the eight UN indexes of genocide including dehumanization, polarization, extermination and denial,” Quadri maintained.
