
Victim traveled to meet accused after befriending him on social media
A British woman was allegedly gang-raped in a hotel in Delhi’s Mahipalpur area after she traveled to India to meet one of the accused, whom she had befriended on social media. Delhi Police arrested two men in connection with the incident, an official confirmed on Thursday.
Accused met victim through Instagram
According to police sources, the main accused, Kailash, a resident of Vasundhara, Mayur Vihar, East Delhi, is a social media content creator known for making Instagram reels. He reportedly connected with the victim, a London resident, through social media a few months ago.
The woman, who was visiting Goa and Maharashtra, reached out to Kailash, inviting him to meet her. However, Kailash asked her to come to Delhi, where she booked a hotel room in Mahipalpur.

As per reports, the alleged crime occurred after Kailash and his friend, Wasim, visited the woman at the hotel.
- The woman checked into the hotel on Tuesday and met Kailash.
- During their meeting, he allegedly attempted to assault her, leading to an argument.
- Kailash then allegedly raped her inside the hotel room.
- When she attempted to escape, Wasim allegedly molested her inside the hotel lift.
Victim reports incident, two arrested
The woman immediately reported the incident to hotel staff and police, leading to the arrest of both accused.
- Kailash was arrested on charges of rape.
- Wasim was arrested on charges of molestation.
Police investigation and British High Commission notified
Delhi Police have confirmed that the British High Commission has been informed about the incident. Further investigation is underway.
This case once again raises concerns about women’s safety and crimes against foreign nationals in the country, prompting calls for stricter security measures for tourists.
