BSF has not yet disclosed the identities of the fishermen or details of the seized boat
The Border Security Force (BSF) has detained four Pakistani fishermen and seized their boat in the Sir Creek area of Gujarat’s Kutch district, officials said on Sunday.
According to officials, the fishermen were caught on Saturday evening for allegedly entering Indian waters illegally. They were apprehended by a BSF team on patrol in the area, which lies along the India-Pakistan maritime boundary.
The BSF has not yet released further details about the fishermen’s identities or the seized boat.
Sir Creek is a sensitive and difficult stretch for security forces, with marshy terrain and tidal creeks that make patrolling hard. The BSF keeps a close watch along the border to stop unauthorised crossings, infiltration and other illegal activity.
Fishermen from Pakistan sometimes drift into Indian waters while fishing and are detained by Indian security personnel. In earlier incidents, the BSF has also detained fishermen and recovered abandoned Pakistani fishing boats from the same area.
