12th Janpath Road bungalow allotted to former Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan will soon find a new occupant
Outgoing President Ram Nath Kovind gets 12 Janpathm, a palatial bungalow in the heart of New Delhi. On July 25 Kovind will move in at this government bungalow. Massive renovation work is being carried out. Kovind daughter is overseeing it. This is a clear indication that BJP is not keen on renominating Ram Nath Kovind. Interestingly this bungalow was occupied for more than two decades by the Bihar leader Ram Vilas Paswan. His son Chirag Paswan occupied it. Much to it, Ram Nath Kovind’s neighbour is Sonia Gandhi, at 10 Janpath,
The Union Cabinet has resolved to allot this house to Ram Nath Kovind as a thanksgiving to the outgoing President. It is a convention that former Presidents are given type 8 bungalow. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will accompany Ram Nath Kovind on July 25 from Rashtrapathi Bhavan to 12 Janpath as a courtesy. It may be noted that there were two meetings between Modi and Kovind in the past one week. In early April, it was Amit Shah Union Home Minister who was assigned by the Prime Minister to convey to Ram Nath Kovind that BJP is looking for a successor. Advance information was conveyed to Kovind. In a rare gesture, three foreign visits for outgoing President Ram Nath Kovind were organized by the Prime Minister’s Office in consultation with the External Affairs Ministry
