Is Assam’s controversial Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma helping Arnab Goswami to find investments in Republic TV? This question is now in the air, while Arnab goes with wild claims of “independent” media creation. Here we are publishing two photographs of Arnab Goswami partying with Himanta Biswa Sarma (not that there is anything wrong with it) with their families in Cambodia. These photos were uploaded by Himanta’s wife Riniki Bhuyan Sarma on November 27, 2016 in Facebook and later deleted. Why were they taken down?
The late night partying of families of Arnab – Himanta were at Siem Reap Town in Cambodia. Being a person from Assam, Arnab might be having good contacts with the powerful Himanta Biswa Sarma. The controversial politician has joined BJP in late 2015 and is now the No. 2 in the Assam Government with Finance, Education, Tourism and Health portfolios. He was No. 2 in the 15 year old Congress government led by Tarun Gogoi also. Before entering into mainstream politics, Himanta was in ULFA, the organization revealed.
Himanta was embroiled in Saradha scam and the CBI had summoned him for questioning in August 2014 and also conducted searches at TV Channel News Live, owned by his wife Riniki. After CBI questioning, soon Himanta landed in BJP. Was that move to save his skin from Saradha Scam?
Saradha Chit fund owner Sudipto Sen in 2013 detailed in his confession letter about his association with Himanta for “getting his blessing” in operating in Assam. Arnab Goswami then in Times Now never uttered Himanta’s name while shouting big about Saradha Scam in his News Hour shows.
A few days ago BJP leader Subramanian Swamy indicated in his Tweets about the dubious funds coming to Arnab’s Republic TV, which is making big claims on “independent media”:

Arnab’s claims of “independent media” and creating a revolution in the media industry falls flat if funds related to Himanta Biswa Sarma are involved. Arnab’s association with Himanta is an open secret in the media world and his silence on Himanta’s activities including the role in Saradha scam exposes the much hyped journalists’ hypocrisy.

Himanta investing or not – But with friendship with Himanta questions Arnab’s claim on integrity. Himanta is a politician who uses money and muscle in Assam politics over 20 years. It is a fact that Arnab in Times Now never questioned Himanta’s role in Saradha scam. He concentrated only on West Bengal politicians in Saradha Scam. He avoided home state Assam’s politicians and Chidambaram’s wife Nalini’s role in Saradha scam. The person who attacked Gadkari for Purti companies is doing the same kind in Republic TV. All of a sudden Arnab became a Right Winger. He is basically a liar who lied through his teeth in his shows stealing morning newspaper Exclusives in his night TV shows.
I have never known Dr Swamy’s statements to be lies at any point. He has his facts and figures at the tip of toungue and fingers. iIn such an event Biswa Sarma must resign and clear his name first,not only from the Sarda scam but also from the financial angle of financing Arnab. Arnab in turn mist not start his channel befor clearing the air.
