Election Commission counters Rahul Gandhi’s SIR charges

Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi’s dream of a “Festival of Riots & Orgy” starting from 1st November 2026 has come a cropper as the Election Commission of India filed its reply to the Supreme Court on Monday in response to the notice issued by the apex court while considering the petition against the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.

The ECI has rebutted, word by word and sentence by sentence, all the allegations made against it by Rahul Gandhi and other leaders of various opposition parties who are the sidekicks of the Congress leader. The petition is in response to an “Exclusive Report” carried by The Indian Express newspaper that all changes in Form 6 were made arbitrarily by the Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar without taking the other two election commissioners into confidence. Form 6 is the application to be submitted by new voters who have completed the age of 18 and is the mandatory requirement for those who want to enrol themselves as voters.

Republic TV, a popular news channel, has come out with a report in its night edition on Monday that it is privy to the reply submitted by the ECI. All allegations made by Rahul Gandhi and his gang of anarchists have been proved wrong by the ECI, which stated that there was no dissent while considering the Form 6 amendments and that all the decisions concerning the amendments incorporated in it were taken unanimously.[1]

The INDIA bloc led by Rahul Gandhi is all set to stage a month-long agitation commencing from 1st November demanding the ouster of Gyanesh Kumar from the post of Chief Election Commissioner. Though traders and businessmen in New Delhi pleaded with the scion of the Congress Party, he asked them bluntly to go and “complain to their Prime Minister Narendra Modi”. Rahul Gandhi, who returned to New Delhi after a week-long rest, recuperation and rejuvenation therapy in Vietnam, is in no mood to listen to the woes of the traders. More than a million people drawn from across the country have been asked to assemble at Ramlila Maidan in New Delhi and bring normal life to a standstill. Traders in Delhi, who register business worth Rs.20,000 crore during the festival season (Diwali, Dhanteras and Bandi Chhor Divas), requested Rahul Gandhi to postpone the agitation till 10th November, but what they got in return was a series of expletives from the Leader of the Opposition, ala Mallikarjun Kharge, the namesake president of the Congress.

Rahul Gandhi has reportedly expressed his apprehension and concern over the success of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva in the presidential election held in Brazil. This is the fourth time President Lula has won the presidential poll, and a comment on social media that it could be the precursor to the 2029 election results has thrown the LOP off guard. He reportedly asked his hangers-on to find out whether Gyanesh Kumar had any role in the Brazilian presidential poll.
