Is he hiding his own assets too?
[dropcap color=”#008040″ boxed=”yes” boxed_radius=”8px” class=”” id=””]T[/dropcap]hree time Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister and President of National Conference Dr Farooq Abdullah Monday filed his nomination papers to contest by-polls from Srinagar Parliamentary seat for the third time in succession.
Political observers feel, “it is a strange coincidence a politician of the stature of Dr Farooq Abdullah who has also served as Union Minister under UPA rule between 2009-2014 has been doing cut copy paste job and furnishing the same reply in his affidavits”.
Dr Abdullah is contesting from Srinagar LoK Sabha seat since 2009.
Since it is mandatory for every contesting candidate to declare details of movable and immovable assets and cash in hand against the name of spouse and dependants at the time of filing nomination papers Dr Abdullah is also religiously following the practice.
But close scrutiny of the affidavits submitted by him since 2008 clearly reveals he is apparently misleading the election commission of India by giving a standard reply that his wife is away in London from April 1990. I have no knowledge about her assets in London (U K).
Since Dr Abdullah is regularly visiting his wife in London and spending considerable time with her yet he has failed to gather sufficient information nor he has furnished the details before the returning officer as promised by him in his own affidavit.
In 2008 when he contested Assembly elections from Hazratbal Assembly segment he filed a simple reply in his affidavit. On oath he declared, “I have no knowledge of assets of my wife as she is away in London since April 1990. “After ascertaining the facts information will be made available”.
A year later in 2009 Dr Abdullah decided to contest the Lok Sabha seat from Srinagar and in his affidavit filed on April 15, 2009 he once again declared in his affidavit, “Since my family is away in London from April 1990 I have no knowledge of cash/ornaments.After ascertaining the facts the information will be made available”.

Several eyebrows have been raised in the corridors of power as the pattern clearly reveals there is clear intent on the part of Dr Farooq Abdullah to hide details of assets owned by his wife, staying in London.
Now on Monday when Dr Abdullah, accompanied by his son and former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah filed his papers he once again submitted the same reply in his affidavit.
Several eyebrows have been raised in the corridors of power as the pattern clearly reveals there is clear intent on the part of Dr Farooq Abdullah to hide details of assets owned by his wife, staying in London.

These observers claimed when wife of Dr.Farooq Abdullah is visiting Kashmir valley and he too is spending quality time with her in London why he has not shared the details of her assets in London?
It also raises a question mark on the ownership title of the London based residential complex where the family of Dr Abdullah is putting up for last many years. Ahead of 2014 Assembly polls when Dr Abdullah was not keeping well and underwent kidney transplant his wife donated her kidney and he returned to Kashmir after a long break. All along Dr Abdullah was staying in London with his family yet he is searching for details and could not furnish the same in his affidavit at the time of filing the nomination papers.

Remarkable revelation by Kshatriya’s investigative journalism. How I wish there were more like him in our media fraternity, instead of hundred of others who just indulge in sycophancy or paid news reporting. I suggest the writer should immediately send the finding to the Chief Election Commissioner’s office in Delhi.It’s high time that such fraudulent men are made to suffer humiliation and indignity. Tyhe remarkable finding should also be sent to the NGO which, headed by a retired Major, is doing great work on electoral candidates, their assets etc etc. The exact name of this NGO can be found in a Google search I’m sure.
