Fresh bomb attack in Manipur’s Bishnupur district
A fresh bomb attack occurred in Bishnupur district in Manipur on Friday morning, causing damage to at least two buildings, according to local police.
Suspected militants fired rockets from elevated positions in the hill areas of Churachandpur district, targeting the residential locality of Tronglaobi, approximately 45 kilometers from Imphal, the state capital. The rockets, launched from a range estimated to be over 3 kilometers, struck the area early in the morning.
While the attack resulted in damage to a local community hall and an empty room, no injuries were reported. The police noted that the bombings did not cause casualties.
Following the rocket attack, suspected militants also discharged several rounds of ammunition towards Bishnupur district. In response, security forces engaged in a retaliatory operation.
Earlier on Thursday night, Kumbi village, located a few kilometers from Tronglaobi, experienced heightened tensions as multiple drones were observed hovering less than 100 meters above the ground, according to eyewitness reports. This incident added to the overall sense of insecurity in the region.
The police are investigating the incident and have increased security measures in the affected areas.
