[dropcap color=”#008040″ boxed=”yes” boxed_radius=”8px” class=”” id=””]T[/dropcap]here is a very interesting email from from IPL commissioner Lalit Modi to noted lawyer Harish Salve dated March 28, 2014, which shows Modi’s dislike for icon Sunil Gavaskar. Modi felt that Gavaskar should not be part of any interim committee to clean the dirt in the cricket as he is a money minded person. Insisted, he suggested Salve to propose the names of Shashank Manohar and Saurav Ganguly in such committees during arguments in Court. Here are the contents of the email:

Some emails also show that former Finance Minister P Chidambaram’s wife Nalini Chidambaram was on the legal panel of Lalit Modi. This is clear from emails to petitioner Aditya Verma dated May 22, 2014, which is marked to her also. This particular email of May 22 is marked to Nalini on returning the bills of Aditya Verma as it was not signed and was not on letter head.

“Not signed. Not on letterhead. Redo,” said Modi’s email to Verma, marked to Nalini Chidambaram.

[dropcap color=”#008040″ boxed=”yes” boxed_radius=”8px” class=”” id=””]A[/dropcap]nother email to Aditya Verma on December 6, 2014 was also marked to Nalini Chidambaram. It was about the discussion of conflicts of interests of N Sreenivasan and the cases in Bombay and Supreme Court.
There is another email on paying legal bills to senior lawyer Rajiv Dhawan for appearing before Justice Mudgal Commission.
In one email dated December 2, 2014. Aditya Verma is begging Lalit Modi to give him a loan to conduct cricket matches in Bihar, because much of the funding was spent on the legal battle.

Note:
1. The Third part will cover how Lalit Modi tried to manage the media for planting stories against his rivals in Cricket. We will also be publishing his `panicky’ emails following the expose of Sushma Swaraj helping him to obtain travel documents from UK authorities.

  • While there is no doubt about Lalit Modi's complicity behind Aditya Verma, the timing of these leaks at the very time that Aditya Verma has petitioned the Supreme Court for the implementation of the Lodha Committee's Report leaves us in no doubt as to where these leaks are coming from. The BCCI top brass, particularly Anurag Thakur is running scared and wants to subvert what the Supreme Court has stepped in to do.
