‘The Kashmir Files’ tax-free in these two states
The much-awaited film by the National award winner Vivek Agnihotri’s ‘The Kashmir Files’ was released in theatres on 11 March. The film is getting constant appreciation and fans are giving feedback on social media as well from India as well as abroad.
The Haryana and the Madhya Pradesh government have declared the film which is based on true events as tax-free. The film is based on the brutal genocide and the exodus of Kashmiri Hindus.
The order issued by the Haryana government stipulates that the theatres will not collect the state GST from the customers, and the tickets have to be sold at a price after deducting the state GST amount. At present, the GST on entertainment is 18%, but as only state GST has been waived by the Haryana govt, the ticket price will go down by 9%.
Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar took to the micro-blogging site to declare that the film is now tax-free. He tweeted, “We have announced to make the film “The Kashmir Files” tax-free in Haryana and orders have been issued to all the cinema halls of the state regarding this.“
हमने हरियाणा में फिल्म “द कश्मीर फाइल्स” को टैक्स फ्री करने की घोषणा की है और इसे लेकर प्रदेश के सभी सिनेमाघरों को आदेश जारी कर दिए गए हैं। https://t.co/rJKUX9NCW5
