It is the booth that matters!
Gearing up for the 2024 general elections, the BJP has devised a multi-layered campaign with primarily focusing on polling booths. After carrying out outreach activity on its weaker Lok Sabha seats, BJP general secretary (organization) B L Santhosh held a training camp for BJP’s panchayat members. Selected panchayat level workers will visit their respective states and share their training module on booth management workers with fellow party workers, sources said. It will be followed by a training camp for BJP’s Zila Parishad members in the coming days.
The party has prepared a calendar for booth level training camp for its party workers from Panchayat to the national level. BJP president J P Nadda has already held two zonal meetings comprising several states to strategize for the 2024 elections. In these meetings, Nadda also emphasized on strengthening the BJP’s organization at booth level. BJP has also prepared a list of more than 70,000 booths, where its organization is weak and a committee of leaders have submitted a report suggesting ways to strengthen organization on these polling booths.
For spiritual reason only
Recently, BJP youth wing chief Tejasvi Surya held a Bhajan Sandhya on Ashadhi Ekadashi. Apart from politicians, ex-CEA Sanjeev Sanyal and additional S G Vikramjit Banerjee attended the evening. The BJP leader also showed his musical side by reciting a Bhajan for the esteemed gathering. When some guests pulled his leg asking if he is getting married to a Marathi girl as Ashadhi Ekadashi is celebrated widely in Maharashtra, Tejasvi replied he is celebrating it purely for spiritual reason.
Diary Entry or Healthy Snack
The second-floor corridor where BJP general secretary Sunil Bansal’s office is located these days has been buzzing with party workers for two reasons. The primary reason for the workers was to get their names registered in one of Bansal’s diaries as he refers to it in case of appointment or giving added responsibility. The second reason is the healthy snack that Bansal offers to whoever comes to his office. Now, it is not yet known who all are roaming the corridor and for what!
Pawar slams Praful
Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Sharad Pawar on Saturday slammed his long-term colleague and rebel NCP leader Praful Patel for accusing him of favouritism, and said Patel got more opportunities in the party at the cost of his daughter Supriya Sule. Pawar also blamed himself for not being able to anticipate the extent of the split in the party.
Responding to Patel’s claim in a newspaper interview that Pawar was favouring his daughter over Ajit Pawar, the NCP founder said Supriya was elected thrice to the Lok Sabha, but the party never gave her a ministerial berth when UPA was in power. “Instead, we made Praful Patel a minister for ten years… In fact, even after he lost the Lok Sabha polls, we sent him to Rajya Sabha,” he told reporters in Nashik before addressing a rally. He also responded to Patel’s claim that NCP’s organizational structure had lacunae and was not as per its constitution. “They (Ajit Pawar’s camp) have questioned my election as the party president, but the proposal was mooted by Patel himself,” he claimed.
