7 Pak rangers killed by BSF in Hiranagar sector

[dropcap color=”#008040″ boxed=”yes” boxed_radius=”8px” class=”” id=””]A[/dropcap]fter the surgical strikes inside Pakistan Occupied Kashmir, which shook Pakistan’s military and political establishment, Indian border guards (BSF) on Friday launched a fresh offensive this time along the International border killing at least seven Pak rangers along with one terrorist opposite Hiranagar sector of Jammu frontier.

BSF spokesman also claimed that “Pak post is running a news item claiming death of five Pak rangers”.

Following this aggressive strike by the Indian border guards Pak rangers are set to further escalate the ladder of tension in the run up to the festival of lights.

The aggressive offensive was launched in response to a sniper attack on one of the Indian forward posts in Bobiya area of Hiranagar sector in which one BSF jawan was critically injured. He was immediately rushed to the Government medical college hospital in Jammu as he had received gunshots on his head.

According to Health Minister Bali Bhagat, who visited the injured BSF soldier in Government Medical College (GMC),Jammu his condition was stated to be critical. “I have instructed doctors to provide all possible treatment to the brave soldier to save his life”, he added. Just hours ago, Gurnam Singh succumbed to his injuries.

[dropcap color=”#008040″ boxed=”yes” boxed_radius=”8px” class=”” id=””]M[/dropcap]eanwhile in an official statement issued by the BSF from Delhi based Headquarters, “In a befitting reply to a sniper attack of Pak rangers at 9:35 a.m in Hiranagar sector of Jammu frontier BSF launched an aggressive offensive. During intermittent firing of small arms and area weapon one militant and seven Pak rangers were shot dead”.

According to BSF, “Pak rangers had targeted a duty mound of BSF in Hiranagar sector of Bobiya and seriously injured BSF jawan Gurnam Singh on Friday. Singh hailed from RS Pura near Arnia in Jammu.

According to BSF sources Gurnam Singh was mainly instrumental in repulsing terrorists forced infiltration on the intervening night of 19/ 20 Oct 2016.

Meanwhile, fearing fresh escalations of tension in the area the local authorities escorted local villagers from the forward areas to safer locations in bullet proof vehicles.

On the other hand the situation along the line of control continue to remain grim as there has been no let up from the Pak side to de escalate the mounting tensions in the area.

According to Defence Public Relations Officer (PRO) in Jammu, “An infiltration bid was foiled by the alert and vigilant troops of Army in the densely forest area along LoC in the Poonch sector this morning”.

He said that on noticing some suspicious activity, the alert troops challenged a group of 2-3 infiltrators who were attempting to cross the LoC.

“On being challenged, the group immediately opened fire (on the Army) which was responded in equal measure by the alert troops forcing the group to flee back”, the spokesman said.

Fresh ceasefire violation was also reported around 12.40 p.m in Rajouri district, official sources claimed. The Indian troops strongly retaliated the fire using similar calibre of weapons.
