J Gopikrishnan on why a marriage of BSNL and MTNL makes sense

BSNL and MTNL serve a very useful purpose. It is BSNL which carried Telecom services to the village level. They were forced into bad days by a non congress non BJP central Minister by not according permission to update their services, to purchase new equipment and so on all to help private players. BSNL being a public sector organization was a open book, no hidden agenda, all employees at all levels approachable right from the Minister downwards etc. The Government has taken the most right decision in not closing, not privatising but to revive it. Let us not follow thw American model of economics which obviously make the rich richer at the expense of the poor.The American capitalist model has failed.
