Celebrity hairstylist Jawed Habib has landed himself in a controversy with his detestable act in a video. Jawed Habib’s video went viral on social media, in which he can be seen spitting on a woman’s hair in front of his viewers in a seminar.

The National Commission for Women (NCW) has taken cognizance in and demanded an investigation into the case. The NCW’s official Twitter handle said, “NCW India has taken cognizance of the incident. Chairperson Rekha Sharma has written to @dgpup to immediately investigate the veracity of this viral video and take appropriate action. The action taken must be apprised to the Commission at the earliest.”

The video is from a training seminar in Muzaffarnagar district, where a woman is seen sitting on a salon chair on the stage. During this, while giving tips to the people present there, Jawed Habib spat on the woman’s hair.

In the video, he can be heard saying that if no spray is available to moisten the hair, then the spit is effective. In the clip, the woman is seen sitting on a chair on a stage. While giving tips to the audience present at the event, Habib casually spits on the hair of the woman, saying “Agar paani ki kami hai na… iss thook mein jaan hai (If there is no water… There is life in this spit).” People present there could be heard laughing and clapping.

After the video went viral on social media, the woman in the video has come forward to share her bad experience.

In a video, she said, “My name is Pooja Gupta. I run a parlor named Vanshika Beauty Parlour and I am a resident of Baraut (UP). I attended Jawed Habib sir’s seminar. He invited me for a haircut on stage and he misbehaved a lot. He was showing if you do not have water, you can use your spit as well. I did not get my haircut done. I would get my haircut from any local shop, but never from Jawed Habib.”

Meanwhile, netizens were left disgusted by the incident and stood in support of the woman.

Journalist Swati Goel Sharma tweeted, “Famous hairstylist-businessman Javed Habib spit in a woman’s hair while doing her hair as a joke. We all saw the video Now listen to the woman’s reaction. She says he called her from the audience but went on to do that, making her feel disgusted.”

Earlier, Habib had landed in trouble for disrespecting and demeaning Hindu Gods, in his salon advertisement in a newspaper. Habib offered his apology after facing flak and maintained that the ad was released in Kolkata by a partner concerned without his knowledge.
