Big blow to ‘The Kashmir Files’ from the J&K court

On Thursday a court in Jammu and Kashmir restrained the makers of ‘The Kashmir Files‘ film from showing scenes depicting late IAF Squadron Leader Ravi Khanna in the movie which will be released on Friday, 11 March 2022.

The court passed the order after Nirmal Khanna, wife of the Indian Air Force officer, approached the court seeking removal or amendment of scenes depicting her husband claiming it was contrary to facts.

Ravi Khanna was one of the four IAF personnel shot dead in Srinagar on January 25, 1990, by a group led by Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chief Yasin Malik.

“Given the facts as stated in the plaint the defendants are restrained by way of temporary injunction from showing the scenes depicting the acts pertaining to the husband of the plaintiff namely martyr Squadron Leader Ravi Khanna in the movie The Kashmir Files,” Additional District Judge Jammu, Deepak Sethi said in the order.

The court further observed that if no relief is granted to the applicant without serving prior notice of the application on the defendants, the suit of the applicant will become infructuous and hence would be defeated by delay.

The film stars Anupam Kher, Mithun Chakraborty, Puneet Issar, Pallavi Joshi, Chimnay Mandlik, and Mrunal Kulkarni. The film’s trailer and motion pictures released earlier have already been received very positively by the people.

Produced and Directed by the National award Winner Vivek Agnihotri, The Kashmir Files is based on the Genocide and Exodus of Kashmiri Hindus and is inspired by true events.

  1. @Ganeshsan… precisely what of portrayals of Indian Army personnel were considered

going against the facts. After all a Widow of a Martyred soldier wouldn’t file a case against someone who is trying hard to tell the truth about what Hindu Indians had to undergo in Kashmir. And why Agnihotri chose to exclude completely as against amend. BTW Y’day on the film opening day – I saw the film. It left an indelible mark in my mind. It was Auschwitz all over in India @t the hands of Mr Mohamed of Mecca & his henchmen. One closing scene where a Hindu Lady is being cut alive with electric jigsaw & it goes parallel to the quranic treatment of Asma bint Marwan who was murdered alive by cutting into 2 halves at the behest of the pedophile mass murderer & war criminal Mr Mohamed of Mecca

PS Previous comment with typos. This one is cleaner

  2. It appears that the plaint was made because some serious flaws are there in the film and it is not based on true facts. The plaint seems to say, the film tends to demean and belittle the sanctity of the plaintiff’s husband and the whole fraternity of soldiers in general.

The objections are serious, but unfortunate it has come in the 12th hour.

We need to wait and watch for more details, and what happens next.
