‘I was hit on face, abused‘: Kangana Ranaut after being slapped at airport
Newly-elected MP from Mandi, Himachal Pradesh, Kangana Ranaut was allegedly “slapped” by a CISF constable at the Chandigarh airport on Thursday.
As per eyewitness reports, the actress-turned-MP was “slapped” by CISF constable Kulvinder Kaur while she was about to board the Vistara flight UK707 from Chandigarh to New Delhi.
After slapping Ranaut, the paramilitary constable allegedly told the actor-turned-MP it was for “disrespecting farmers“, alluding to the 15-month-long protest by farmers against the (now scrapped) farm laws and other issues including a legal guarantee of minimum support price in 2020-21.
In a video statement on X this evening, Ranaut said she is safe but is concerned about rising terrorism in Punjab.
“I am safe. I am perfectly fine. The incident happened at the security check-in. The woman guard waited for me to cross. She then came from the side and hit me. She started throwing expletives. I asked why she hit me. She said ‘I support farmers‘. I am safe, but my concern is terrorism is rising in Punjab. How do we handle that?” Ranaut said.
The incident took place when Kangana was travelling to New Delhi to join the other MPs who’ll constitute the 18th Lok Sabha.
A video shared on X shows the commotion inside the airport following the incident.
It was also alleged by eyewitnesses that Kaur was upset with Kangana because of her earlier remarks on the protests by the farmers.
The CISF Commandant has taken note of the incident, and is questioning the constable, sources said.
