Disruption of Parliament a conspiracy by Congress, Communists to subvert Modi Government?

The Congress with its ideological cousins the Left are desperately trying to stall the functioning of the Parliament.

The Congress with its ideological cousins the Left are desperately trying to stall the functioning of the Parliament.
The Congress along with many in the Opposition just don't want Parliament to function

[dropcap color=”#008040″ boxed=”yes” boxed_radius=”8px” class=”” id=””]A[/dropcap] deep rooted conspiracy appears to have been hatched by the Congress-led opposition parties in India to derail the Narendra Modi-led National Democratic Alliance government at the Centre. The continuous disruption of the proceedings of both Houses of Parliament is ample proof of this alleged conspiracy. The Congress has not come to terms with the fact that it has been mauled badly in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections and BJP has been voted to power with an absolute majority.

It is believed that Mamta Banerjee has Rs.1,30,000 crores ($19.1 billion) worth of black money under her disposal…

Since the constitution of the 16th Lok Sabha in May 2014, the Congress and the Lefts (both CPI-M, CPI) have not allowed the House to function smoothly citing non-existent issues. Having watched the live telecast of the proceedings of both House of Parliament for the last 30 months, Team PGurus is convinced that the Congress is out to derail, disrupt, disturb and demolish democracy as well as the functioning of both the Houses. This is an attempt by the Congress and the Communists to subvert the functioning of the Government with alleged connivance of Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman, P J Kurien, an acolyte of Sonia Gandhi.

A new entrant to this conspiracy is Mamta Banerjee, the Chief Minister of Bengal and the proprietor of Trinamool Congress. If reports coming from Bengal are to be believed, this spinster was rattled by the November 7 declaration by Prime Minister Narendra Modi demonetizing the high value currency notes. It is believed that Mamta Banerjee has Rs.1,30,000 crores ($19.1 billion) worth of black money under her disposal and she has converted Malda in Bengal as the capital of India’s counterfeit currency notes. It is an open secret that the counterfeit and fake Indian currency notes printed in Pakistan reach Malda via Nepal and Bangladesh.

The Congress and the Lefts are of the firm view that having failed in the electoral battle, they can paralyze the Central Government by disrupting the parliament so that the Government could not pass any Bills and enact laws which are needed for the progress of the country. The Congress party, especially the mother-son duo of Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi are worried over the possibilities of the hands of law would reach them in most of the corruption charges and scams which happened during the decade long UPA government and that were unearthed by a section of the Indian media. The only safe way out for the Congress’ first family is to ensure that the functioning of the government is disrupted and paralysed.

[dropcap color=”#008040″ boxed=”yes” boxed_radius=”8px” class=”” id=””]T[/dropcap]he behaviour of the Congress and other Opposition parties which are comrades-in-arms with the Grand Old Party of India during the ongoing winter session of the Parliament itself is proof that they are out to sabotage the democratic functioning of the Houses. At no point of time in the history of independent India has the Parliament been held to ransom by a political party like what the Congress is doing now. The Ministers and members belonging to the BJP are not allowed to speak though the ruling party is careful not to interrupt the opposition members while they speak.

When the winter session of parliament commenced on November, the Congress-led Opposition threw all decorum and decency to the winds and disrupted the proceedings of the House.

The effort of Team PGurus is not to portray the government as angels. We have been closely monitoring the government with critical eyes. But what we have seen during the last 30 months is a government on the defensive and an opposition which is unreasonably aggressive. The Government had made it known many times that it was willing for a debate and discussion on the demonetisation of the high value currency notes which was announced on November 8 by the Prime Minister in his address to the nation.

When the winter session of parliament commenced on November, the Congress-led Opposition threw all decorum and decency to the winds and disrupted the proceedings of the House. Their charge: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has committed perjury by declaring the demonetisation of currency notes during his address to the nation and not in the parliament. Well, the Congress and their ideological proxy, the Communists, forgot the fact that the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi declared an internal emergency in India not in the Parliament but through a late night ordinance signed by a President whom she had treated as a servile. Her son Rajiv Gandhi had described the members of the Opposition as limpets. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has not done anything equivalent to these acts which could be described as gross disregard to all civilized norms and democratic values.

The Opposition had shown its eagerness to pull down the government during the Lalit Modi issue with which they rocked the House for weeks. Though Sushma Swaraj, the minister for external affairs, declared in the House that she had done nothing in violation of the laws of the country, the Opposition led by a 45-year-old person of questionable wisdom brought the House to a standstill demanding her resignation. Over the days, when the Congress saw the writing on the wall that if an independent inquiry is ordered into the Lalit Modi issue, it would be the family retainers of 10, Janpath who would face the music; so they withdrew the agitation silently.

[dropcap color=”#008040″ boxed=”yes” boxed_radius=”8px” class=”” id=””]T[/dropcap]he Congress also tried to subvert the functioning of the House citing the attacks on minorities, the lynching at Dadri in UP of Akhlaq, (a Muslim) allegedly for eating beef and also on the amendment to the Bill making it easy for the government to acquire land for development works. The fact that the Dadri was in Uttar Pradesh and the law and order issues are the responsibilities of the State government did not deter the Congress and their cohorts from disrupt the parliamentary proceedings.

Though the Congress has excellent leaders like Kamal Nath and Capt. Amarinder Singh (he quit the House recently citing the Sutlej Yamuna Link Canal controversy though it is said that he was not given due recognition by the Congress) who are articulate speakers and efficient members of the parliament…

Disruption of debates and discussions in Parliament is a sure recipe to paralyse the functioning of the government. The approach and attitude of this Government towards the Opposition is commendable. When the former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh spoke in Rajya Sabha (the Upper House) in the debate on demonetization, the entire House listened to him with rapt attention. It is another thing that Manmohan Singh spoke the lines dictated by P Chidambaram and some other speech writers of the lady in 10, Janpath. And what he told was irrelevant.

But the Opposition has not shown this courtesy to Prime Minister Narendra Modi even once during the last thirty months. Ghulam Nabi Azad, the dandy Anand Sharma (leaders of the Congress) Sitaram Yechury, the CPI-M leader with Casanova looks all speak in the House with sarcasm, scoff and hatred forgetting the fact that the government of the day is a body democratically elected by the people of the country.

The government has to be given credit for being accommodative to the whims and fancies of the Opposition. Though the BJP has some impressive ministers and members in both the Houses of the Parliament, the same cannot be said about the Congress. Leader of the Congress in Lok Sabha, Mallikarjun Kharge is a misfit for his role. At best, he can be a personal assistant either to his Madam or to her wayward son. Though the Congress has excellent leaders like Kamal Nath and Capt. Amarinder Singh (he quit the House recently citing the Sutlej Yamuna Link Canal controversy though it is said that he was not given due recognition by the Congress) who are articulate speakers and efficient members of the parliament, the party is dependent on solar scam tainted K C Venugopal (popularly known as Sarita Venu for his involvement with Sarita Nair, a Kerala beauty with dubious reputation) who is not at all impressive in his speeches. Though the party occasionally deploys Shashi Tharoor, the death of Sunanda Pushkar, his third official wife, has cast shadows on him leading to the eclipse of his otherwise fair face.

“The Congress and the Communists are hand in glove with each other to prevent the House from functioning smoothly. They are rattled by the fact that the Congress may not be able to match the image of Prime Minister Modi which he has built up by his pro-poor policies and initiatives,” said Dr S Kalyanaraman, director, Saraswathi Research Centre, a Chennai based think tank dealing with contemporary social and political issues.

  1. The BJP government is so conscious of its image that it is afraid of the Opposition Parties. I have never seen any government pampering the Opposition parties like the BJP govt is doing right now. Please watch/read the statements issued by union ministers and BJP office bearers. They always plead with the Congress and others in the opposition benches to join the debate and help them in conducting the houses. Too soft of a government.

  2. Why not send the trouble makers out using marshals and then conduct the business? Even if the entire opposition walks out they can conduct the business and pass the laws. After all laws are for the good of the country and there are MPs in all parties who want the progress of the country. I have never heard of the house or senate being adjourned in US
