In a disturbing incident that shocked locals, a youth was seen offering a cigarette to the idol of Kaal Bhairav at a temple in Jabalpur district, Madhya Pradesh. A video of the incident, which has since gone viral on social media, shows the individual standing before the idol at the Kaal Bhairav temple in the Gwarighat area and placing a cigarette near the statue.
The accused person not only offered the cigarette to the deity but recorded the disrespectful act on his mobile phone, making it viral.

The video has sparked outrage among the temple’s devotees and the wider community, with many expressing anger over the disrespectful act. Authorities have yet to respond publicly, but the incident has drawn significant attention and calls for action.
In the viral video, the youth is not only seen placing a cigarette on Kaal Bhairav’s idol but could also be heard appealing to others to do the same to seek blessings.
“If you offer cigarettes to Lord Kaal Bhairav, the deity will fulfill your all wishes,” the accused can be heard saying.
The exact date of the viral video is yet to be ascertained as the police probe is underway.
Police said that they first found the video on the Facebook account with the user’s name Akash Goswami.
Following a complaint from a group of priests, the police in Jabalpur have registered a case against an unidentified youth for allegedly hurting religious sentiments by offering a cigarette to the idol of Kaal Bhairav at a temple in the Gwarighat area. The complaint was filed at the Gwarighat police station, and the accused has been booked under relevant charges.
Jabalpur Additional Superintendent of Police (SP) Anand Kaladgi confirmed that a thorough investigation has been initiated. The police are reportedly tracking the suspect through his Facebook account and have assured that strict action will be taken.
“A special team has been assigned to investigate the case, and we will ensure that the accused is arrested soon,” SP Kaladgi stated. He also mentioned that additional police personnel have been deployed at the temple to maintain order.
