Mamta Banerjee tiff with BSF, orders police to not let BSF personnel operate within 50 Km of international border

The West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday has yet again asked the Cooch Behar Police not to allow the Border Security Force (BSF) to allow beyond 50 kms from the international border.

The West Bengal Chief Minister also alleged that the “BSF is entering the villages and beating people while also throwing them on the other side of the international border.”

“Don’t allow BSF to enter 50 kms of the area beyond the international border in the state because they are entering the village, killing people and throwing them on the other side. Ask the BSF to take state police in confidence while working on any operation,” the Chief Minister said in a virtual meeting with the senior officials of the state police.

Banerjee, in a meeting with state police, even claimed that the law-and-order situation is good in the state but some sections of the media are deliberately spreading misinformation and said that cases are lodged in West Bengal but not in Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and Gujarat.

“A case of death by suicide was portrayed as a rape case by the opposition parties. The BJP and CPI(M) are both trying to defame West Bengal. We will not let Bengal become Hathras or Unnao,” she said.

The Central government had amended the BSF ACT which authorized the border guarding force to undertake search, seizure, and arrests within a 50 km stretch, up from the previous limit of 15 km, from the international border in Punjab, West Bengal, and Assam.

This amendment was not welcomed by the states of Punjab and West Bengal.

Central and West Bengal governments have been at loggerheads for the past many years over various issues, especially the law and order situations in the state.

Deepening its feud with the Centre, West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee had earlier moved a resolution in the State Assembly on November 17 opposing the Central government’s decision to extend the Border Security Force jurisdiction from 15 km to 50 km. The CM had criticized the Centre’s move alleging that it was an attempt to interfere with the federal structure of the country.

  1. President Rule needs to be immediately promulgated in West Bengal.

With around 2-3 crore illegal Bangladeshis & Rohingyas registered as Voters – Elections in WB will be farce.

Districts like Murshidabad, Malda, Dinapur & some other border Districts have each become a MINI BANGLADESH / MYANMAR.

Entire WB needs to be declared a “Centrally Administered Union Territory” till all the illegally settled aliens are ‘identified’ & “deported” or at least “disenfrachised”.

The process of even identifying the “illegal immigrants” will take a decade & deportation – even if possible – will take several decades.

Deportation may not be possible because of the cumbersome procedures involved. Hence all those identified as “illegal immigrants” shall be at least “disenfranchised”

BJP should build a collective will to carryout this humongous exercise.
