My New Letter Series – Dear Reader, A Serious Letter To All Of You

While one does feel good demonstrating their newfound wealth, neighborhood, and development, one does need to use a little, if not more, discretion when “entertaining such guests”

Dear Reader,

I usually write satire. Some get my satire and some don’t (it must be my writing style that needs to change since you are all very intelligent and smart). However, this article is about an issue currently rampant in India. No, I am NOT talking about the recent encounters (I laud the government of UP) but am talking about YouTubers from India’s western neighbors. Most of these YouTubers are genuine and have made all efforts to show India’s development and current quality of living, not to forget the cost of living.

Thanks to Major (Retd) Gaurav Arya, I learned, recently, that many so-called YouTubers (from India’s western neighbors) have started a new “series” (that’s what they call it) called “My Visit To India” where they call common citizens within India and ask them to show their neighborhood. It looks very innocent, doesn’t it? However, think about this situation. Someone works at one of the sensitive organizations, for example, DRDO. If that person were to show his/ her neighborhood (I know the sensitive organizations have INCREDIBLE security), this could lead to the person’s life is at risk, or worse, his/ her neighborhood at risk.

While I agree that the Indian Armed Forces are formidable and able enough to handle any untoward attempt from these neighbors, the security of any country is NOT just the Armed Forces but rests on each and every one of its citizens. I have to agree with the Major when he says, “Traitors have always opened doors from the inside”. Think about Jaichand (who let Prithviraj Chauhan down) and one realizes there ARE people within the country who would willingly jeopardize India’s internal security for a few dollars (or for martyrdom). While one does feel good demonstrating their newfound wealth, neighborhood, and development, one does need to use a little, if not more, discretion when “entertaining such guests”.

What is very obvious, and the US of A did have these “guests” during the early ‘90s, is the need for a national debate on security. A similar situation happened immediately after the break of the formidable USSR. With that country breaking into multiple countries, democracy was NOT at the top of their mind. What transpired was the introduction of the Russian Mafia into the US of A. There wasn’t much the then government could do, other than make statements. Remember, there WAS NO YOUTUBE at that time. One has to be thankful to the Law Enforcement Agencies (FBI and the local LEOs) that ensured not only the safety of the common citizen but also the elimination of these mafiosos.

I am not suggesting building a wall, although that’s NOT A BAD IDEA AT ALL, nor am I suggesting using the local LEOs (again, NOT A BAD IDEA) but, with the technological advances the world has made, using Geoblocking would DEFINITELY KEEP any unwanted “guests” from intruding into India and its neighborhoods.

The citizens, intelligent though they are, are smitten with the idea of showing their “pluralistic” attitude. I did view a couple of these videos. While these do look innocent, initially, I did find something strange. How were the Pakistani YouTubers getting the names (and possibly phone numbers) of these people? If you view these videos, these hosts seem to know a bit about the people they’re calling. Is it just possible that these “victims” had given their contact information to these “YouTubers”? Also, why would anyone give their personal information to people they have hardly met? I know they haven’t given out their Aadhar number but telling someone where one lives is definitely not advisable!!!

What is becoming very obvious is that with all the advancements India has definitely made, INTELLECT and ITS’ UTILIZATION IS DEFINITELY NOT one of those advancements. It needs a complete change in intellect and ideology to reverse these supposed liberal ideas that have gotten into people. God, I miss the days when people were more suspicious of nosey people or neighbors!!

Given these circumstances, Wouldn’t You?????
