
Day 1 of Parliament special session: PM Modi addresses House
On Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the media ahead of the commencement of the five-day special session of Parliament.
PM Modi said, “This is a session of historic decisions. A specialty of this session is that the journey of 75 years is starting from a new destination…Now, while taking forward the journey from a new place…we have to make the country a developed country by 2047. For this, all the decisions of the time to come will be taken in the new Parliament building.”
Addressing the media outside the Parliament building PM Modi said, “I urge all members to give maximum time to this special session of Parliament.”
“This Parliament session may be small in duration but is big on occasion, it is a session of historic developments,” he added.
He highlighted the success of India’s moon mission and G20 meeting during his remarks. “Shiv Shakti Point (landing site of Chandrayaan-3) has become a new centre of inspiration, Tiranga Point (location on the Moon near the lunar south pole where Chandrayaan-2’s lander Vikram crashed) fills us with pride,” said the Prime Minister.
“An atmosphere of festivity, and enthusiasm prevails in the country, a nation feeling a new self-confidence,” he said.
Earlier, an official Lok Sabha bulletin said, “Parliamentary journey of 75 years starting from Samvidhan Sabha – Achievements, Experiences, Memories and Learnings will be discussed on September 18.”
According to official sources, the special session, which also includes consideration and possible passage of four bills, will continue till September 22 and is likely to be held in the new Parliament building.
