“Mothers, daughters in shock“: PM slams Opposition for Shaina NC remark
Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a strong attack on the Congress-led I.N.D.I.A bloc on Monday condemned its silence regarding sexist remarks made by Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Arvind Sawant against Shaina NC, who joined the Shinde Sena faction to contest the November 20 Maharashtra election.
Speaking at an election rally in Jharkhand, where Assembly elections are also taking place this month, Modi highlighted the “foul language” used against Shaina NC, stating, “Mothers and daughters are in shock, and the people will teach them a lesson.” He also criticized the Congress for its treatment of Sita Soren, the BJP candidate and sister-in-law of Chief Minister Hemant Soren.
Sawant, a Lok Sabha MP, made the controversial comments during a media interaction last week when asked about Shaina’s electoral prospects. In response, Shaina firmly stated, “I am not some ‘maal’ (goods). I am a daughter of Mumbai, working dedicatedly for the past 20 years. This is a crass comment by Sawant. I am a ‘mahila’ (woman), not a ‘maal.’ Everyone knows that the Maha Vinash Aghadi has no respect for women.”
Shaina emphasized her commitment to the people of Mumbai and rejected any need for validation from Sawant or the Shiv Sena (UBT).
In defence, Sawant later claimed that his comments had been misinterpreted. “It refers to ‘goods,’ but she could have misunderstood it. I had no such intentions,” he said.
The controversy has escalated, leading to a police case being registered against Sawant for his remarks, further intensifying the political battle in the lead-up to the elections.

To talk low of a female, that too when Shaina is a dignified person, hope Khangress politicians use the same terms when talking about their mother, sisters, wives or daughters. Such a low morality & they claim to be law makers ? Shame on them.
Mere sorry or apology is not enough. They have to do repentance by doing sundry works exclusively for women for 25 years and should be denied the right to stand in elections or hold any public office for 25 years.
One wrong word and the MP got himself in a mess. Had he used the expression of imported candidate, there would have been no controversy. But then a leader with street power does not have this finess.
