After NEET protest ends, PM Modi asks youth to connect with India’s border villages

A day after the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) called off its nationwide agitation following the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over the NEET paper leak, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday reached out to the country’s youth, urging them to actively participate in nation-building by connecting with India’s border villages.

Addressing participants of the Viksit Vibrant Village Programme 2026 via video conferencing, the Prime Minister said young people should visit border villages to better understand the country’s diversity, resilience and patriotic spirit.

‘Border villages teach the spirit of nation first’

PM Modi said he was impressed by the enthusiasm shown by the youth during the programme, describing it as a powerful example of the spirit of ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’.

He said people living in border villages place the nation above everything else and demonstrate exceptional vigilance and commitment towards the country’s security.

The Prime Minister also recalled his long-standing tradition of celebrating Diwali with Indian Armed Forces personnel stationed along the borders.

Youth key to building Viksit Bharat

Highlighting the role of young Indians in achieving the vision of a developed nation, PM Modi said greater interaction with border communities would help the youth understand India’s cultural diversity and developmental journey.

“Our aim was for the youth of our nation to gain firsthand experience of all these aspects. Around three lakh young people participated in this initiative, and more than 400 were selected,” he said.

He added that the participants spent a week in remote villages, lived with local communities and experienced their traditions, calling it one of the finest examples of national integration.

Participants share experiences

During the interaction, several participants shared their experiences from visiting border villages and reaffirmed their commitment to contributing towards the vision of Viksit Bharat.

One participant, Divyanshu Joshi, described today’s youth as being driven by nation-building, character-building, service and innovation, saying that for Gen Z, “Nation First” remains the guiding principle.

Another participant recalled being surprised by the level of infrastructure in remote border areas. She said she had expected poor connectivity and limited facilities but instead found well-built roads and improved infrastructure, attributing the transformation to the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana.
