
PM Modi conferred with Lokmanya Tilak National Award in Pune; lauds ‘memorable moment’
On Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was conferred with the Lokmanya Tilak National Award constituted by Tilak Smarak Mandir Trust in 1983, to honour the legacy of Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak.
Speaking on the occasion PM Modi said, “It is my fortune to receive this award. This is an unforgettable experience for me to receive this award. When you receive an award, your responsibility increases even more. I surrender this award to the feet of 140 crore Indians. I donate the award money to the ‘Namami Gange mission’. I won’t leave any stone unturned for the welfare of the people.”
PM Modi has been chosen as the 41st recipient of this award, which includes a memento and citation, in recognition of his exceptional leadership and his efforts in fostering a sense of patriotism among citizens, the trust says.
Earlier, PM Modi performed Darshan and Pooja at the famous Dagdusheth Mandir in Pune.
PM Modi and Opposition Alliance I.N.D.I.A leader Sharad Pawar shared the stage at the award ceremony. Maharashtra Governor Ramesh Bais, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Deputy Chief Ministers Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar, and Congress leader Sushilkumar Shinde also attended the award ceremony.
