
BJP leader Madhavi Latha detained during protest over alleged vandalism of Muthyalamma Temple, Secunderabad
An idol was vandalized at the Muthyalamma Temple in Secunderabad on Monday. Local residents apprehended a man allegedly responsible for the act, beat him, and subsequently handed him over to the police. The incident, which occurred in Kurmaguda near the Passport Office, has caused tension in the area.
Police detained BJP leader Madhavi Latha and other leaders and workers of the party while they were protesting.
“They are taking me to jail for protesting over the vandalization of Mata’s idol. We are ready for this,” Latha told reporters as the police were taken away from the protest site. Local residents also held a protest demanding action against those responsible for the vandalism.
A case has been registered at Mahakali Police Station. Further investigation was on.
Union Minister for Mines and Secunderabad MP G Kishan Reddy visited the temple and enquired about the incident. He along with Hyderabad Police Commissioner C V Anand went inside the temple. Secunderabad Cantonment MLA Sriganesh also visited the temple.
The Union Minister also spoke to the temple committee and local people. A large number of people gathered near the temple, raising slogans against the government.
The incident came three days after the vandalization of the Durga idol at the Exhibition Ground in Hyderabad.
The Muthyalamma Temple, known for its religious significance, has been a center for worship and community gatherings. This incident has raised concerns about the safety of places of worship in the area, prompting discussions about measures to enhance security and community vigilance.
Authorities are appealing to anyone with information regarding the incident to come forward as they work to resolve the matter.
