Jammu Kashmir is, was, will remain integral part of India”: Sudhanshu Trivedi at UN Session

In a strong rebuttal at the United Nations, senior BJP spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi firmly asserted that Jammu & Kashmir will always remain an integral part of India.

His comments came in response to a statement by the Pakistani delegate, who referenced Pakistan’s involvement with UN peacekeepers since 1948 in the disputed region of Jammu & Kashmir.

Exercising India’s Right of Reply, he categorically stated, “The Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir was, is, and will remain an integral part of India.”

Trivedi dismissed Pakistan’s remarks as “unnecessary” and an attempt to divert the discussion from the intended agenda of the UN session on peacekeeping operations.

Trivedi further highlighted the recent democratic developments in Jammu and Kashmir, noting that the people of the region had exercised their electoral rights and elected a new government. He urged Pakistan to cease spreading “falsehoods,” emphasizing that such rhetoric would not alter the established facts.

Without engaging in further back-and-forth, Trivedi declared, “Out of respect for other members of this forum, India will refrain from responding to any further attempts by Pakistan to misuse the UN procedures.”

On social media, Trivedi elaborated on India’s position, noting that the recent democratic elections in Jammu & Kashmir, including the participation of citizens in both the J&K Assembly and Parliament elections, clearly demonstrated the region’s integration with India. He stressed that such important developments should not be undermined by misleading references to the region in international forums.

“These democratic milestones are a testament to the strong foreign policy of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government, which has ensured a robust and assertive India on the global stage,” Trivedi said, celebrating the high voter turnout and the successful conduct of elections in the region.
