At least 26 killed in brutal attack on tourists in Kashmir

A brutal terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam on Tuesday has claimed the lives of at least 26 people, including two foreigners and two locals, leaving the nation in shock. The incident occurred in Baisaran, a popular tourist spot once cherished by Bollywood filmmakers, as terrorists opened fire on a group of holidaymakers.

Modi vows swift justice

Condemning the attack in the strongest terms, PM Modi took to X (formerly Twitter) to express grief and determination:

They will not be spared! Their evil agenda will never succeed. Our resolve to fight terrorism is unshakable and it will get even stronger,” he wrote.

He also conveyed his condolences to the victims’ families and wished a speedy recovery for the injured, assuring that all possible assistance is being provided.

TRF claims responsibility for the attack

The Resistance Front (TRF), believed to be a shadow group of the banned Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), has claimed responsibility for the attack. Officials suspect that terrorists may have crossed over from Kishtwar in Jammu and reached Baisaran via Kokernag in south Kashmir.

Security forces launch massive manhunt

A combined team of the Army, CRPF, and local police was immediately dispatched to the area after gunshots were reported. A massive anti-terror operation is now underway, with security forces combing the region in all directions to track down the attackers.

Nation mourns, security tightened

The attack has drawn widespread condemnation across the political spectrum, as leaders and citizens express outrage and sorrow over the targeted killing of innocent tourists. With security across Jammu and Kashmir on high alert, this attack has once again brought to the forefront the ongoing threat of cross-border terrorism.

As India mourns the lives lost, the government has assured that no stone will be left unturned in bringing the perpetrators to justice and restoring peace in the Valley.

A major retaliation cannot be ruled out. If Pakistan wants to hit the Kashmir economy it should not be at cost of our lives. It is only when the locals suffer they will flush out the facilitators.
