Terror camps crumbled during Operation Sindoor, PM Modi tells Indian diaspora in Melbourne
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday hailed the success of Operation Sindoor, saying the Indian Armed Forces dealt a decisive blow to terrorism by destroying terror camps across the border. Addressing members of the Indian diaspora in Melbourne, Australia, the Prime Minister said the operation demonstrated India’s firm resolve against terrorism and made every Indian proud.
Speaking at a packed community event during his Australia visit, PM Modi also highlighted India’s transformation, governance reforms and growing global stature.
‘Terror camps crumbled’
Referring to Operation Sindoor, the Prime Minister said the precision strikes sent a powerful message to terror groups and their supporters.
“During Operation Sindoor, you must have seen the explosions that struck terrorist hideouts. Those explosions have resonated across the world,” PM Modi said.
“When such a decisive strike was carried out against terror camps, didn’t it make you feel proud?” he asked the gathering.
India’s fight against terrorism
PM Modi said India no longer remains silent in the face of terrorism and is committed to taking decisive action to protect its citizens and national security.
He emphasised that the country’s strong response to terrorism reflects the confidence and capabilities of a “New India” determined to safeguard its interests.
Governance reforms highlighted
The Prime Minister also spoke about the government’s citizen-centric approach, modifying the traditional Sanskrit phrase “Atithi Devo Bhava” (Guest is God) to “Nagarik Devo Bhava” (Citizen is God).
He said governance in India is now focused on empowering citizens through transparent policies, digital transformation and improved public service delivery.
Warm welcome in Melbourne
PM Modi received an enthusiastic reception from members of the Indian community in Melbourne, with thousands attending the event during his Australia visit.
His address forms part of a broader diplomatic tour aimed at strengthening India’s ties with Australia through enhanced cooperation in trade, defence, technology and people-to-people exchanges.
