School Trustees arrested in Badlapur rape case
The Thane Crime Branch has arrested two individuals in connection with the Badlapur rape case. The president and secretary of the school, Uday Kotwal, and Tushar Apte respectively, where a sweeper sexually assaulted two minor girls, were apprehended, according to officials.
The arrests took place in Karjat, just a day after the Bombay High Court denied anticipatory bail pleas from the accused school president and secretary.
The main perpetrator, Akshay Shinde, was killed in a police encounter earlier in September. Shinde was reportedly being transferred from Taloja Jail to Badlapur when he allegedly attacked a police officer and attempted to escape, resulting in his fatal injury during the ensuing confrontation.
The fallout from the case continues to unfold, with the family of the deceased Shinde recently approaching the Bombay High Court seeking permission to find a burial site for him. Reports indicate they faced significant difficulties locating land for his grave, initially attempting in Badlapur and later in Ambarnath.
