Time NaMo Freed Self

It is high time Modi unshackled himself from the grip of the cabal.

It is high time Modi unshackled himself from the grip of the cabal.
It is high time Modi frees himself from the grip of the cabal.

[dropcap color=”#008040″ boxed=”yes” boxed_radius=”8px” class=”” id=””]I[/dropcap]t’s time PM Modi broke the back of the cabal which is preventing him from asserting himself. Modi’s biggest Unique Selling Proposition (USP) is his clean image. Vested interests did try to sully that image by raking up the infamous Birla-Sahara diary issue. But this motivated non-controversy died a natural and expected death.

Normally the sheen wears off after a couple of years. But Modi’s brand equity is, on the contrary, becoming stronger by the month as evidenced by the uninterrupted success of the BJP from small time panchayat elections to mega polls like the UP assembly elections.

It is because of his squeaky clean image which makes Modi’s instant connect with the masses possible. Independent of the rumble and tumble of partisan politics, the moral idiom in Indian society is still strong. It is this idiom which accounts for the continued popularity of the Ramayana and Mahabharata. It is a different matter that BJP president Amit Shah is shrewdly marketing Brand NaMo to rake in huge political dividends for the party.

Normally the sheen wears off after a couple of years. But Modi’s brand equity is, on the contrary, becoming stronger by the month as evidenced by the uninterrupted success of the BJP from small time panchayat elections to mega polls like the UP assembly elections. The fatigue factor vis-a-vis Modi’s bearded visage is nowhere to be seen to be setting in. Never in the history of post-independent India has a PM been in constant dialogue with the people as Mr Modi is through mass rallies, Mann Ki Baat sessions and the clever use of the social media. His popularity ratings refuse to climb down. And, of course, within the BJP he has effectively marginalised his detractors.

This being the case, it is highly baffling why he is allowing himself to be pushed around by the crooked cabal? There is no other explanation for the extreme reluctance of the investigative agencies, many of whom are under the finance ministry, to act against P Chidambaram and his son Karthi despite highly damning evidence against them which will easily stand legal scrutiny. Politically speaking Palaniappan Chidambaram is a lightweight and Karthi even more so. So it is not that the father-son duo will inflict political damage to the BJP if they are moved against. PGurus has highlighted the reluctance of the CBI to appeal against a single-judge’s verdict favoring Vincent George, PA to Sonia Gandhi. The CBI’s strange move against L.K. Advani and Murli Manohar Joshi in the Ramjanambhoomi case is another instance. Many more examples can be cited to buttress the perception that a cabal is keeping the PM’s hand tied in certain crucial matters.

In one of his many missives to the PM, the irrepressible Dr.Subramanian Swamy had clearly talked about the inexplicable failure of the erstwhile Vajpayee govt to act against Sonia Gandhi. Modi should not let history repeat itself; either as a tragedy or a farce. He should free himself from the clutches of the cabal and emerge as a man of destiny. He will go down in the history of contemporary India as the greatest PM of the subcontinent, if he does that.

  1. India has been ripe for a messiah as the people are disgusted that the crooks have taken over the country lock, stock and 2 barrels..Now they are stuck with a fake 56″ messiah.

  2. Modi cannot break the back of the cabal. He is now part of it.His hunger for power ensured it.
Too late in the day to think of it.
He uses Hindutva as a facade. He follows the Bush dictum. Either you are with me or against me, which is also followed by the Modi bhakts as they are called.

  3. Modi will take care of all looters corrupts in the next term.Let us not be hurry since the fountain of corruption is already sealed.

  4. The most obvious reasons which come to my mind on writer’s concerns about P.Chidabambram & son or Vincent George ,PA to Sonia Gandhi are that Mr.Modi in his shrewd Gujarati mind , is weighing the political profit and loss in moving against them at this point of time , and perhaps for the same reason, to move or not against NDTV.
Right now he is conserving his energies for bigger things and we all know well by now that Mr.Modi likes to give surprises to the nation .

  5. 1. Did Birla Sahara diary controversy ( even if it was motivated non-controversy!) really die a natural and expected death as written by this post author?
IMHO do not think so and does it not appear to any spectator asif probe was abruptly curtailed by not allowing diary notes as eligible pieces of evidence anymore? It is Hon’ble court decision and i respect it though a detailed probe would have been even better to strengthen Modi’s clean image.

    2. Even Swamy tweeted surprisingly that he was shocked as to how some confidential IT dept pieces of info leaked to spark the above controversy but was silent on main issue of whether any amt was paid to few key top people listed in those notes like Sheela Dixit etc among others than Modi. Swamy infact was interested in investigating how it got leaked rather than establishing the veracity of the claims even if they are intended to create mischief/sully Modi’s clean image. Is that not so?
